Students painting on chateau terrace 2007

Stan Moeller oil painting workshop in the South of France, in June of 2012.

The workshop begins on June 6th and runs through the 12th.

We will be able to arrive up to two days early, and the costs per night will be the same as the workshop dates (below).

If you want to continue to get updates, or sign up, please let me know.

email:  mail@stanmoeller.com, Phone (cell/ studio): 207-337-0714.

All rooms will be on a first come, first serve basis...the the best rooms will go fast.

See the available rooms at:  Available rooms, Chateau & Villa

This place is an (amazing) Artist Foundation... Tucked away on the French Mediterranean, about ten minutes from Cannes, a 15 minute boat ride from isle Ste. Marguerite, where the man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned and where the film was shot. Attached are some photos off my 2007 workshop at La Napoule. You can see more at: http://www.stanmoeller.com/LaNapouleWorkshopMay2007.htm

Here are links to the two La Napoule sites:

Workshop Fee:

The workshop fee is $750. + $50 per non-workshop guests... Spouses, Family, or friends are welcome to share rooms.

If I fill up the workshop (around a dozen) other rooms will be available to friends and family.
Unfortunately, La Napoule cannot accommodate small children.

Information on the cost of the rooms is pasted below (see Accommodations).

Please note: La Napoule is an Artist Foundation, not a hotel, so the next group may be arriving when we leave.
They are able to keep their prices (very) low because of the fact that they are an art foundation.
Rooms right on the Mediterranean any where else would be VERY expensive (hundreds of dollars more per night).

Unless you make other arrangements with them (on your own), we must all depart on the 13th.

For those of you that wish to stay in the area after the workshop, there are very nice hotels, some right across the street.
You will be responsible for all your flights and car rental, if you want a car. There is a train station right across the street from La Napoule, so if you not want to rent a car you can take the train from the airport in Nice (or wherever).
A beautiful drive along the French Cote D'Azur.

(My wife, Tammy, and I will be flying into Nice and will rent a car.) It is about an hour/hour and a half to La Napoule from Nice.
There is an airport in Mandelieu, where La Napoule is located, but it is very small and I doubt it has service by the major airlines.

Accommodations:

Prices are per night per person, including continental breakfast daily and dinner on week nights (Monday Ð Friday). Unless noted by an asterisk, beds are three-quarter in size.

All accommodations are on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Villa Marguerite. Due to the nature of the buildings, there are no elevators or air conditioning. For the occasional still day, fans are provided in all rooms for the comfort of the participants.

++Stan's note: We were there in June (2007) and even though it was pretty warm most of the time, the breeze off the Mediterranean was enough to keep us comfortable. The Villa has the quietest rooms. It is across the street from the Chateau, which is located right on the ocean. There are 10 rooms in the Villa and 10 in the Chateau. La Napoule is able to keep their rates for us painters low by renting out the Chateau for private events. For this reason it can be a little noisy, but it is beautiful and right on the water.

"Everything that is painted directly and on the spot has always a strength,
a power, a vivacity of touch which one cannot recover in the studio ...
three strokes of a brush in front of nature are worth more than two days of
work at the easel."
- Eugene Boudin (1825-1898, France)
